Coming soon

This is The Music Doctor, a brand new site by Rod Gilmour that's launching September 2024. Things will be up and running here shortly, but you can subscribe in the meantime if you'd like to stay up to date and receive emails when new content is published!
The idea was first born in 2021 during the pandemic when I did a 24-hour DJ marathon for a charity close to my heart. It brought a lot of people together, some of whom are not music lovers. It was a joyous experience.
The Music Doctor’s aim is not to be a music know-all but to give readers a flavour of what’s out there in the world and too good not to share, the emotional, mood-enhancing side of music, as well as new stuff I have come across (where Spotify’s Discover Weekly comes into its own).
I will be covering a wealth of genres. Electronic music mostly, with indie, funk, afro, chill out and more thrown in for good measure.
It will also shed some light on the music Gen X are playing, why our kids play certain music they’ve heard on TikTok but won’t listen to anything else similar that is recommended to them. Or is that just teen sigma stuff?
Subscriber benefits
You will receive regular newsletters, with the latest music musings, columns, recommendations, gig and album reviews. Non-subscribers of the newsletter will receive the odd freemium piece.
If you are a subscriber, you will also be able to request a curated, mixed playlist (Spotify) from me to give your celebration/birthday/dinner party/gym session the leg up it needs.
Worried about a playlist? Worry not! The Music Doctor can come to the rescue with an understanding of who’s coming, party age, desired music genres and whether they are up for a shindig, or if it’s just for background music. No hired DJ batting away requests with The Music Doctor.
