We all need to dance more in kitchens

Dancing in your kitchen for 20 minutes every day could be enough to make you fit. So says a new study conducted by boffins from Northeastern University in Boston.
The main crux was to understand whether the intensity that people would receive from dancing freely on their own would be enough for health-enhancing physical activity.
“And the answer was ‘yes’. All adults were able to reach a health-enhancing level of activity without being told what intensity to dance at,” said the lead scientist. “They just put on their own music and danced around – and even when they didn’t have music on they were still reaching that level.”
Of course, for many this Sophie Ellis-Bextor kitchen foray would just be an extension of what the NHS deems a healthy daily exercise target, or perhaps those who are generally gym or exercise shy.
I often double up on walks if I take my headphones, swaying my arms as if dancing in a club if there is a particularly delectable dance track playing. I've often been caught out by fellow walkers and the art is to make it look as if I am walking fast, but really I'm in a sweat-induced club.
I hit well over 40,000 steps four years ago this weekend when I did a 24-hour non-stop DJ set for charity.
It was a sultry Saturday similar to the one we have just experienced in the UK and several tracks still endure.
Indeed, I took the headphones out on a Sunday walk and hit the volume on this delight, which featured in the 24-hour mix:
Electronica track from the archive
For the first days of Spring?
Piano-laden track of the month
Napkin by UTO. As if it was written on back of a napkin, and turned into a 90s driven house track.
Under 2 minute delight
Welsh hip hop is not a usual go to, this on the other hand…
Single of the month
Blending classic house rhythms, ethereal soundscapes and a touch of melancholy via strings, this is pretty decent from the Berlin producer...
Album must have
Andy Cato, of Groove Armada fame, released a bewilderingly untapped, largely chill out album in 2013. Full album on Spotify here
